Upcycled baby clothes

On a recent trip to Chatsworth Road Market, we met the inspiring Kimberley Golding, who is setting up a business making baby clothes out of old jumpers and unused clothing…

Kimberley was inspired to make her own baby clothes after the birth of her son, Odin. She took a fancy to cashmere and wool jumpers to keep Odin warm in the winter, but soon found that the prices for well-made wool items were unreasonable, so she decided to set up Mini Magpie, a project that aimed to reuse and recycle unwanted woollen into quirky new baby grows.

She sources the jumpers from charity shops and only chooses those with more than 80% natural fibres – each one chosen to be comfortable, fit well and wash easily.

Natural fibres are not only thermal, keeping babies warm, they’re also breathable and so allow the wearer to cool down when they come in from the cold.

Catch Kimberley at Chatsworth Road Market in Hackney, London, most Sundays.
